Snow Day, No Power and The Sickies

Ok, so I know it has been a gazillion years since I posted anything. I had a few quiet moments, so here I go.

Yesterday was a snow day- we got 6.5 inches of snow here. Anyone who knows me well knows that I am a little kid when it comes to snow. If I hear the "S" Word on the weather forecast, I start watching the news religiously. Things were no different this time! I found myself looking out the window every chance I got on Sunday but kept seeing rain. Lots of rain. I decided to take a nap because that is what we do on a rainy weekend, right? I awoke to the sound of Scott opening blinds downstairs... but why? Oooh! Oooh! SNOW! I looked out the window and what did I see? The ground covered in white fluffy stuff! YAHOO!! I looked up at the clock to see what time it was- so I could judge the length of my nap. No numbers on the clock. What? Oh! I live in the boonies. Snow = no power. Oh well! It snowed!
Fast forward to 24 hours later. The snow is melting. The power is still out and I need a shower!
During the excitement of the snow and not having power, my precious boys have been sick. We were told by the doctor that they have colds. Saturday, Carter had a really high fever so we called the pediatrician's office and the nurse on call said they most likely had the flu. Lovely!

So, the dilemma- snow on the ground (which NEVER happens around here) vs. sick kids who don't need to be outside. Add to this a mommy who is very child-like in her love of snow. Guess what we did yesterday?! We only let the boys stay outside for a 20-30 mins. and we wrapped them up really well. I pray I don't regret that decision later but the had a good time. We played on a sled my mom got them for Christmas (again in a place where it NEVER snows- go figure) and we made the bottom third of a snowman.

In summary, we still have a cold, the flu, whatever. We played in the snow and we now have power, so I finally got a shower!
School is closed today so we are going to have another relaxing day. I am hoping the boys will rest up and feel better so they can get back to school. We ALL need for them to get back to school! :-)
